McKeag sets new school record as Pipers compete at Tom Cat Open

Mckeag had a strong day in the throws for the Pipers, setting a school record in the hammer with a throw of 57.75 meters (189-06), placing third. He also finished second in the shot put with a throw of 15.93 (52-03.25).

Andrew Schlichting threw well in the hammer with his ninth place throw of 45.98 meters (150-10). Blake Springman placed ninth in the discus with a throw of 42.81 meters (140-05).

Trevor Davis led the Pipers with a first place finish in the javelin throw, throwing 48.66 meters (159-07.75). Josh Slate finished sixth with his throw of 44.45 meters (145-07.50).

Jack Deichert finished fifth in the 1500-meter run with his time of 4:08.67.

Devin Monson ran to an eight place finish in the 5000-meter run in 15:14.68. Not far behind, Ellis Richardson finished ninth in 15:15.23.

The Pipers are next in action as they host the Capitol City Invite on Thursday, April 21. Field events start at 3 p.m. and running events start at 4 p.m.
