The Pipers and Rams were knotted at two after the first inning, as Hamline picked up scored on a hit batter and a walk with the bases loaded in the first inning. North Central then tallied two on four hits and an error in the bottom half of the inning.

After that, Hamline slowing put together an 8-3 lead through eight innings, scoring a run or two at a time. Along the way, Andy King hit a two-run homer in the fourth.

Then, in the top of the ninth, the Pipers put 10 of their runs on the board with six hits for the big margin of victory.

The Pipers manufactured the 10 runs using just three extra-base hits - all doubles. There were two hit batters and Hamline drew four walks in the inning.

A lead-off single from Jordan Buck got the inning started. Cory Miller came in to run for Buck and King immediately doubled to drive in Miller.

Josh Fleury and Peter Schwartz hit the other two doubles in the inning for the Pipers, picking up an RBI apiece on the hits. Andy Powell and King had the lone multiple-RBI hits in the inning, each driving in two runs with singles.

King led the team with five RBIs as he went 3-for-6 at the plate with four runs scored.

The Pipers improve to 10-9 overall with the non-conference victory.
