In the first match of the day against the Warhawks, Kelly Gust (East Grand Forks, Minn.) and Liz Gunderson (New Prague, Minn.) lost at first doubles, 3-8.
Kristen Kiemele (So., Eagan, Minn.) played a thrilling match at fifth singles, falling by a service break in each set, 4-6, 5-7.
After heading down I-4 for their afternoon match, the Pipers started off with a win from Sara Mitambo (Sr., Minneapolis, Minn.) and Kiemele, 8-3, at third doubles.
The duo went on to sweep their matches against St. Petersburg, providing all three Piper points in the match. Mitambo was victorious at fifth singles, 6-4, 7-5, while Kiemele won easily at sixth singles, 6-0, 6-1.
Kelsey Eatherton (So., White Bear Lake, Minn.) fought back after losing the first set, winning a second set tie-breaker before dropping the third set super-breaker, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 7-10.
Anna Yarbrough (Fy., Minneapolis, Minn.) also played a tie-breaker at third singles, falling 6-7 (5-7), 0-6.
With the pair of non-conference losses, the Pipers return to Minnesota with a record of 1-10, 0-5 MIAC.
