Pipers tie with Blazers

The Blazers scored first at 7:34 in the first period. Jenna Scattarelli (Fy., Elk River, Minn.) then tied it up at 1-1 at 17:29 in the same period. Megan Olson (So., Coon Rapids, Minn.) was credited with the assist.

The pair of teams skated through a scoreless second period before exchanging goals again in the third period.

Saint Benedict scored first in the third, adding a tally to the board just 42 second after the opening puck drop.

Heather Ahlers (So., Stillwater, Minn.) then scored at 15:34 to tie the game at 2-2. Kesia Madryga (So., Burnsville, Minn.) earned the assist on that goal.

After the final five minutes of regulation and all five minutes of overtime went without a goal, the teams skated away with the split in MIAC points.

The Pipers are now 7-13-2, 3-10-2 MIAC with the tie. The same two teams will play tomorrow night, Saturday, February 14, at 7:15 p.m. at Drake Arena.
