Sabres take victory over Pipers

Hamline and Marian skated through a scoreless opening period with just six stoppages in play after the first puck drop. The Pipers out-shot the Sabres 6-1 in the first 20 minutes.

Marian then tallied their first goal at 11:02 in the second period as Aly Lynd (Fy., Eau Claire, Wis.) scored her first of the season.

The Sabres then had two third-period scores, the first at 3:13 by Tara Scott (Fy., Mt. Albert, Ontario). Lynd then scored again at 5:26.

Leveille scored her goal at 14:33 on assists from Alli Miller (Jr., Faribault, Minn.) and Mallory Steele (Sr., Rochester Hills, Mich.).

The Pipers pulled their goal with 1:34 to play, but couldn't overcome the two goal deficit.

Hamline drops to 2-7-1 overall and remains at 0-5-1 MIAC with the non-conference loss. Marian improves to 2-6-0 overall and is still 1-3-0 NCHA. The same two teams will meet again at Drake Arena tomorrow, Sunday, December 20, at 1:00 p.m. to close out play on the 2009 portion of the schedule.
