Kastner scores goal and two assists in Piper road win

Melanie Leveille (Sr., Appleton, Wis.) scored the Pipers' opening goal at 9:00 in the first period. Mallory Steele (Sr., Rochester Hills, Mich.) was credited with the assist.

Finlandia tied the game five minutes later, scoring an even strength goal at 13:57. 

Hamline then went on to score four straight goals in the second period, beginning with an even-strength tally just 33 seconds into the period from Alli Miller (Jr., Faribault, Minn.). Kastner earned her first assist of the night.

Haley Johnson (Fy., Bemidji, Minn.) then put the Pipers up 3-1 at 1:52 in the second off of assists from Seanna Robinson (So., Winnipeg, Manitoba) and Shannon Griswold (Sr., Portland, Ore.).

Robinson and Kastner tallied their second assists of the game at 8:21 as Brianna Sigg (So., Coon Rapids, Minn.) lit the lamp for a 4-1 advantage.  

Kastner then scored a goal of her own for the third point she would record of the game at 16:10. Megan Olson (Jr., Coon Rapids, Minn.) earned the assist.

Finlandia scored at 0:59 and 13:28 in the third to cut the final score to 5-3, but couldn't get any closer.

Amelea Gray (Fy., Bozeman, Mont.) had 36 saves in net for the Pipers.

The non-conference win moves the Pipers to 2-0 overall. The same two teams will meet again tomorrow, Sunday, November 15, for a 2:00 p.m. puck drop at Finlandia.
