Pipers score first but fall to Wildcats

Seanna Robinson (So., Winnipeg, Manitoba) scored a goal for the third straight game as she put Hamline up 1-0 at 3:04 in the first period. Alli Miller (Jr., Faribault, Minn.) and Melanie Leveille (Sr., Appleton, Wis.) were credited with the assists.

St. Catherine responded with two goals later in the first period at 12:57 and then 11 seconds before the intermission. Both were even-strength goals.

The Wildcats' game-winner came on a power play in the third period at 1:36. Leveille made it a one-goal game less than a minute later, at 2:24.

The Pipers pulled goalie Amanda Plumm (Jr., Lake Elmo, Minn.) with 1:20 remaining. but the Wildcats held off the extra-skater attack for the win. Plumm tallied 41 saves in the game as St. Catherine out-shot the Pipers 44-25.

With the loss the Pipers drop to 2-6-1, 0-5-1 MIAC and the Wildcats are now 7-1-0, 5-1-0 MIAC. Hamline will host a pair of games next weekend against Marian in non-conference play. They will play the opening game of the series on Saturday, December 19, at 7:15 p.m. and the second game on Sunday, December 20, at 1:00 p.m. Fans who bring a non-perishable food item or a cash donation will receive free admission.
