Branigan completed the race at 23:14:1, setting the tone for a solid
showing from the Piper women. Their performance was good enough to earn
them a 13th place finish out of 37 teams that competed at the 6K race.
Other Hamline runners putting forth admirable performances were
Jessica Kociscak (Jr., Ramsey, Minn.) who crossed the finish line 46th
with a time of 24:08:1, and Kate Drinane (Sr. Roseville, Minn.) who
followed her 19 seconds later with a time of 24:27:1 which was good
enough to finish 72nd overall.
Sara Holland (So.Dousman, Wis.) finished nearly a minute later with a
time of 25:26:1. Rachel Glissman (Sr. Omaha, Neb.) joined her nine
seconds later, finishing at 129th overall.
Lauren Howe (Jr. Siren, Wis.) greeted her at the finish line with a
time of 25:53:7, and Carolyne Bocovich (So. Andover, Minn.) rounded out
the Piper performances with a time of 26:14.9.
A good showing from Hamline enabled them to compile a score of 383
points. UW-La Crosse finished first overall with a score of 98 points,
followed by UW-Oshkosh and UW-Eau Claire with scores of 112 points, and
117 points respectively.
The Piper women’s cross country team next competes on Saturday,
October 10 at the St. Catherine’s Invitational in Saint Paul. The 4K
race is scheduled to being at 10:00 a.m.
