The Pipers took control of the first half immediately after the
tip-off, as a Wilkowski basket opened the scoring in the game. Wilkowski
had 16 points in the first half on 7-for-9 shooting from the field and
made two free throws in the opening 20 minutes.
Senior Jessica Heinen (Spicer, Minn.) was also in double digits in
the first half, adding 11 points to help Hamline lead 44-26 at halftime.
The Pipers never let the Wildcats back into the battle in the second
half, holding a 15-22 point lead for most of the final 20 minutes.
Wilkowski finished with eight rebounds in addition to her 23 points,
as she shot 10-for-12 in the game and 3-for-4 from the free throw line.
Heinen finished the game with 17 points, while Jackie Kelly (So., Blaine, Minn.) added 11.
St. Catherine, who also entered the game with three straight
conference wins, dropped to 8-4, 5-4 MIAC, while the Pipers improved to
9-4, 6-4 MIAC. Hamline will next host Saint Benedict at 3:00 p.m. on
Saturday, January 17.
