Just over two minutes into the game in Arden Hill, senior point guard
Britta Schwartzhoff (Hayward, Wis.) drained a shot from outside the arc
to give Hamline a one-point lead (5-4).
With the exception of three tied scores after that in the first half,
including at halftime, the Pipers would hold that lead to the final
At halftime, the two teams entered the locker room deadlocked at 33,
but in the first minute of the second half, Nikki Klinck (So., Hibbing,
Minn.) drained a three of her own to give the visitors a 36-33
The Pipers never looked back, never letting the Royals get closer than three points for the rest of the game.
In addition to Kelly's 16 points, Schwartzhoff added 14, while Klinck had 11 points.
Wilkowski's second double-double of the season came on 10 points and 10 rebounds (five offensive, five defensive).
The Pipers improve to 6-4, 3-4 MIAC with the conference win, while the Royals drop to 3-6, 2-4 MIAC.
Hamline will return to Hutton Arena to host Saint Mary's on Wednesday, January 7, at 7:30 p.m.
