Piper volleyball sweeps pair of matches in straight sets

The Pipers swept Crown in the opening match of the day, 25-21, 25-12, 25-13.

Senior Tasha Simmons (Eagan, Minn.) led the Piper attack with 15 kills. Libero Heidi Larsen (Jr., Andover, Minn.) had 20 digs to lead the Pipers on defense. She also added a pair of service aces in the match.

In the second match of the day, the Pipers defeated the Cougars by set scores of 25-20, 25-20, 25-22.

Simmons led the team in kills again with 12, while Anita Rojas (Sr., Valle del Cauca, Colombia) had nine. Larsen had 15 digs and Simmons added 10.

The Pipers improve to 7-4, 0-1 MIAC with the pair of non-conference victories. They will compete in the second day of the Holiday Inn-vitational at Saint Benedict tomorrow, Saturday, September 19. They play Presentation at 10:30 a.m. followed by Bethany Lutheran at 12:30 p.m.
