Pipers earn split at UW-Superior tournament

In the opening game of the tournament for the Pipers, they posted the straight set victory over the Saints by scores of 25-17, 25-22 and 25-17.

Anita Rojas (Sr., Valle del Cauca, Colombia) had 14 kills to lead the Piper attack while Tasha Simmons (Sr., Eagan, Minn.) had 11.

Heidi Larsen (Jr., Andover, Minn.) led the defense with 22 digs and Simmons added 12. Junior setter Jackie Kelly (Blaine, Minn.) had 35 assists.

In the three-set loss to Central, Hamline dropped the opening set 25-14 before battling through, but dropping, the next two 31-29 and 26-24.

Simmons had 16 kills in the effort and Larsen had 29 digs.

The Pipers are now 4-2 overall with the split and continue play at UW-Superior on Saturday.
