The Tommies softball team continued their winning ways in MIAC play, as they improved to 112-2 since 2004 with the pair of wins.
St. Thomas scored four runs on four hits in the top of the first inning of the opening game of the double-header, and controlled the scoreboard from there.
The Pipers scored in the bottom of the first when three players drew walks and a run was scored on an RBI ground out. St. Thomas responded with two more runs in the second inning before Hamline scored their second run in the bottom of the third.
That run came in a three-hit inning in which Sophie Davidson (Jr., Saint Paul, Minn.) hit a leadoff triple and came home on a Grace Weinreich (Sr., Wahkon, Minn.) single.
St. Thomas added one run in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings before the Pipers cut the final score in the opener to 9-4 with a two-run sixth.
In the second game, Marta Radcliffe (Jr., Lakeville, Minn.), who was on the rubber for game one, also, threw a three-hit shutout for the Tommies.
Jourdan Ulrich (Sr., Apple Valley, Minn.) was 3-for-7 in the two games with an RBI, while Weinreich went 2-for-3 in the opener with an RBI.
For the Tommies, Alison Wright (Jr., Pewaukee, Wis.) extended her hitting streak to 33 games by going 2-for-3 in game one and 2-for-4 in game two. Colleen Owen (Sr., Lakeville, Minn.) went 4-for-7 in the pair of games.
