Pipers win streak at ten with sweep of Cardinals

In the opener of the twinbill, the Pipers jumped out to a lead with three runs on two hits and two Saint Mary's errors in the third inning. Sophie Davidson (Jr., Saint Paul, Minn.) had an RBI single while Erin Farley (So., Saint Paul, Minn.) drove home two runs on a single.

Saint Mary's tied up the game after scoring a run in the fifth and two more in the sixth.

In the top of the seventh, Kellie Hoen (Sr., Cologne, Minn.) hit a two-out single to left field and then scored when Heidi Larsen (So., Andover, Minn.) doubled to center field for the RBI.

Davidson was 2-for-4 in the opener with the RBI while Farley was 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Jessalyn Weaver (Jr., Eagan, Minn.) threw a complete game, striking out five and walking two, for the win.

In the second game, the Pipers struck early, as Farley hit an RBI single to center field in the top of the first.

Hamline carried that 1-0 lead into the fifth when Farley had another RBI single to double the Piper lead. On the next at-bat, Ashley Anderberg (Jr., Circle Pines, Minn.) then hit a three-run homerun to put the Pipers up 5-0.

Saint Mary's scored two runs in the sixth, but couldn't get closer than 5-2.

Davidson was once again 2-for-4 while Jourdan Ulrich (Sr., Apple Valley, Minn.) was 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored. Farley was 2-for-3 and had an RBI on each of her hits.

Kelsey Tacheny (So., Saint Paul, Minn.) threw 5 1/3 innings for the win.

The Pipers improve to 19-5, 10-2 MIAC with the pair of wins while Saint Mary's dropped to 14-10, 6-6 MIAC. Hamline will travel to Gustavus on Thursday, April 16, for a 4:00 p.m. double-header.
