Paul Schmaedeke earns MIAC coach of the year honor

Schmaedeke led the Pipers to a second place finish in the MIAC indoor track and field championships last weekend. His team compiled a total of 111.0 points.

The Pipers had two NCAA provisional performances, one MIAC champion and six All-MIAC performances during the two-day meet.

Additionally, two of Schmaedeke's athletes will be competing this weekend in the NCAA Division III national indoor meet in Terra Haute, Indiana.

Schmaedeke, a 1977 graduate of Hamline, is in his 30th season of involvement with the Piper track and field programs. Those years include competition as a student-athlete and overseeing the men's cross country program for the past 20 seasons. He is in his eighth season at the helm of the men's track and field program.
