The 1600-meter relay team of Andy Marnach (Jr., Hokah, Minn.), Brant Luehman (Sr., Amery, Wis.), Tyson Molitor (So., Belgrade, Minn.) and Brent Nelson (Jr., New London, Minn.) sprinted to the finish in an NCAA provisional time of 3:14.65 at La Crosse last Thursday to qualify for the field.
Brandon Gleason (Sr., Mantorville, Minn.) qualified for his third consecutive nationals (2008 cross country, 2009 indoor nationals) as he qualified in the 1500-meter run. He ran his NCAA provisional qualifying time of 3:51.79 at La Crosse.
Derall King (So., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) will be making his second straight nationals appearance in shot put after throwing to an all-American third place finish at indoor nationals. He made the field with his NCAA provisional throw of 16.30 meters (53-5 3/4) at the Hamline Invite at the beginning of April.
Nationals will be held at Marietta College in Ohio.
The preliminary race in the 1500-meter run is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 21. Gleason will run in the second heat.
The preliminary race in the 1600-meter relay is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. on Thursday, May 21. The Pipers will run in the third heat.
The shot put will be contested on Saturday, May 23, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
