Derall King (So., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) placed second in the shot put with a thro of 15.83 meters (51-11 1/4).

Andy Norman (So., Winona, Minn.) then placed fourth in both the discus and hammer throws. He was the highest-placing Division III competitor in both events. He had a throw of 45.18 meters (148-03) in the discus and of 49.69 meters (163) in the hammer throw.

Andrew Johnson (So., Andover, Minn.) also put together a fourth-place performance as he finished the 3000-meter steeplechase in 9:56.55.
