Khoury-Hanold breaks into Hamline 200 IM top ten

Khoury-Hanold first broke into the Piper top-ten list in the 200 IM in his preliminary race during the morning session. His time of 1:58.40 qualified him for the finals and placed him fourth on the Pipers' all-time list in that event.

He followed that up in the evening final by swimming a 1:57.57, which jumped him to third on the all-time list. The time placed him tenth overall in the meet.

Jake Burgess (Sr., Oakdale, Minn.) qualified for the finals of the 50 free with a morning swim of 21.56. He swam a 22.09 in the finals for 13th place.

Also in the morning session, David Janezich (Jr., Minneapolis, Minn.) cut nearly 17 seconds off of his seed time in the 500 freestyle with a swim of 5:11.91.

Burgess, Khoury-Hanold, and Janezich were anchored by Ryan Wakefield (So., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) on the 200 freestyle relay, finishing eighth with a time of 1:33.51.

The MIAC championship meet continues tomorrow, Friday, February 20, at the University of Minnesota.
