Pipers lose season finale to Scots in OT

The Scots scored first, getting on the board when Nate Juergens (Jr., Saint Paul, Minn.) scored at 41:28. His goal came off a rebound from Erik Johnson's (Jr., Bethesda, Md.) hard shot in the box that was saved by Piper keeper Zach Nelson (So., Eagan, Minn.).

In the second half, the Pipers thwarted a Macalester scoring attempt off of a corner kick in the 65th minute. They then took a corner kick of their own five minutes later that resulted in a 1-1 tie.

Jordan Ward (Fy., Cedarburg, Wis.) took a corner kick that made it into the center of the box. Drew Lukas (Sr., South St. Paul, Minn.) bounced the ball up for Sam Studer (Fy., Northfield, Minn.), whose header tied the score at 70:00.

The score remained tied until the end of regulation. 37 seconds into overtime Taylor Rasmussen (Fy., Eagan, Minn.) put a pass Ryan Marshall (So., Plymouth, Minn.) into the net for the 2-1 Macalester win.

With the conference loss, the Pipers conclude the 2009 season with a record of 6-11-1, 2-7-1 MIAC. The Scots conclude the regular season at 10-7-1, 7-3-0 MIAC.
