Pipers play third straight OT game, fall to Knights

The Pipers earned an OT win over Central, a double-OT scoreless tie with Bethel, and today ended with a double-OT loss at Carleton for three straight games with free soccer added on.

After a scoreless opening half, Carleton got on the scoreboard first on a goal at 47:04. Moe Tageldin (Jr., Rochester, Minn.) then tied the game at 63:58 on a long shot to the bottom left corner of the goal. The score was unassisted.

The Knights tallied the game-winner with less than three minutes to play in overtime on a header at 102:49 off of a corner kick into the box.

Zach Nelson (So., Eagan, Minn.) posted seven saves in net for the Pipers as they were out-shot 32-5 in the game. Carleton also had the advantage in corner kicks, 15-2.

The Pipers drop to 4-5-1, 0-2-1 MIAC while the Knights improve to 5-3-0, 3-1-0 MIAC. Hamline will remain on the road to play a non-conference game at St. Scholastica on Wednesday, October 30, at 4:00 p.m.
