VIDEO: Piper men's soccer drops MIAC opener to St. Olaf

Stellar goalkeeping by sophomore Zach Nelson (Eagan, Minn.) kept the game tied at 0-0, until St. Olaf’s Sam Harrington (Sr., Seattle, Wash.) scored the go-ahead goal in the 81st minute of the game. Nelson finished the game with seven saves, after facing nine shots on goal.

St. Olaf tallied another goal at 83:13 from Jack Pueringer (Fy., Billings, Mont.) to go ahead 2-0.

The Pipers cut the lead to one goal with less than two minutes to play when Drew Lukas (Sr., South St. Paul, Minn.) scored while parked in the box on a corner kick from Moe Tageldin (Jr., Rochester, Minn.). The goal at 88:50 was Lukas’ sixth of the season.

However, Hamline was unable to find the back of the St. Olaf goal again in the final 1:10 as the Oles hung on for the win.

With the loss, the Pipers fall to 3-4-0 overall, and 0-1-0 in the MIAC. St. Olaf moves to 3-0-1 overall and 1-0-0 in the MIAC.
