Hipp's super play leads Pipers over Cobbers

Hipp camped out under the basket and gave Hamline an early, and lasting, first half lead. In less than 17 minutes on the court in the first half, Hipp ensured that he would post his fifth double-double of the season.

With Hamline entering the locker room with a 37-26 lead, Hipp had scored half of the Pipers’ points (18) and pulled down 10 rebounds (five offensive, five defensive).

John Fraase (So., Bismarck, N.D.) led the Cobbers in the first half with 10 points.

The Pipers maintained an eight-twelve point lead in the second half until the Cobbers began to chip away at the lead with ten minutes to play. Cody Dyshaw (Sr., Montevideo, Minn.) then cut Hamline’s lead to four points (52-48) on a breakaway with nine minutes left in the game.

Hamline never let the Cobbers any closer, however, drawing the lead back out to 12 with the 68-56 victory.

Hipp finished with 25 points, a career-high 21 rebounds (eight offensive, 13 defensive) and six blocked shots. Eric Clute (So., Hawley, Minn.) added 14 points.

The Cobbers were led by 16 from Dyshaw and 14 from Fraase. Fraase also led the team in rebounding with eight.

Hamline’s record now stands at 6-13, 5-10  MIAC after the conference win. The Cobbers move to 7-13, 4-11 MIAC. Hamline will travel to Bethel on Wednesday, February 4, for a 7:30 p.m. game.
