At the conclusion of the game, Carl Hipp (Jr., Little Canada, Minn.)
was named the tournament MVP and Brown was named to the all-tournament
team.
The Pipers opened with a three-pointer from Nick Carroll (Sr.,
Mendota Heights, Minn.) and were dominant from there over the tournament
hosts. Cal Lutheran twice held brief one-point leads around the
15-minute mark of the first half, but the Pipers led for the remaining
39+ minutes of play in the game.
A jumper by Noah Aguirre (Fy., Fillmore, Calif.) at the end of the
first half gave the visitors a 14-point, 42-28, lead at halftime.
Cal Lutheran cut Hamline's lead to eight points, 47-39, with 13:09 to
play, but a trey from Jordan Schmidt (Fy., Northbrook, Ill.) put the
Pipers back up by 11. Hamline cruised to the tournament title after
that.
Brown had a game-high 17 points and recorded a double-double by
adding 11 rebounds. He also contributed three blocked shots. Hipp and
Schmidt had 10 points apiece.

#8-ranked Wheaton, 69-68, and Cal Lutheran defeated Monmouth, 72-58.
The non-conference win brings the Pipers' overall record to 5-4 while
Cal Lutheran drops to 5-5 overall. Hamline will take a 1-3 MIAC record
into their return to conference play on Saturday, January 2. They will
host Carleton College at 3:00 p.m.
