Wernberg provos as Pipers host final meet before MIAC championships

Wernberg (Jr., Brainerd, Minn.) hit the NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the discus throw with a toss of 42.35 meters (138-11), finishing third overall and second out of all of the Division III competitors.

She finished third in the shot put with a throw of 11.67 meters (38-3 ½), while Becky Culp (Fy., Lino Lakes, Minn.) had a throw of 39.18 meters (128-6) in the hammer throw, finishing seventh. Culp also finished fifth in the discus throw with a toss of 41.22 meters (135-3).

Kameron Argiannis (Jr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) placed third to a pair of runners from the University of Minnesota in the 400-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 64.99. Her previous record was set in 2008 at 65.12.

In the 100-meter hurdles, Lynn Robohm (So., Rosemount, Minn.) placed fourth with a time of 16.05.

Stephanie Jenkins (Fy., Wentzville, Mo.) cleared 3.21 meters (10-6 1/4) to finish seventh in the pole vault. She placed third out of all Division III competitors, as the top four athletes were from the University of Minnesota.

Christina Walker (Fy., Katy, Texas) placed eighth in the 400-meter dash with a time o f 1:01.51 while Lauren Howe (Jr., Siren, Wis.) ran a 5:07.67 race to finish 10th in the 1500-meter run. Jessica Kociscak (Jr., Anoka, Minn.) placed seventh in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:20.37 while Sara Holland (Jr., Dousman, Wis.) was ninth in the event with a time of 2:22.76.

The Pipers next compete at the MIAC outdoor championships, Friday and Saturday, May 14 and 15, at Saint Mary’s University.
