Branigan ran an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 17:38.52 en route to her third place finish.
At the championships, the top three performers are all-conference while places four through six earn honorable mention all-conference standing.
Kameron Argiannis (Jr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) broke her own Hamline record as she finished fifth in the 400-meter dash in 59.86.
Jessica Kociscak (Jr., Anoka, Minn.) also had a fifth place finish, running a 5:12.36 mile.
In the field events, Katelyn Anderson (Jr., White Bear Lake, Minn.) was fourth as she cleared 1.59 meters (5-0 1/2) int he high jump.
Brenna Coyle (So., Lindstrom, Minn.) also had a fourth place finish as she threw 15.35 meters (50-4 1/2) in the weight throw.
The second day of the MIAC championships will take place tomorrow at Carleton.
