Pipers felled by Wildcats in super-breakers

The Pipers came out of the doubles matches trailing 1-2, winning just the third doubles match played by Kristen Kiemele (Jr., Eagan, Minn.) and Nicole Krier (So., Woodbury, Minn.), 8-4.

Anna Yarbrough (So., Minneapolis, Minn.) and Emily Workcuff (Sr., Lakeville, Minn.) lost by a service break, 6-8, at second doubles. Kelsey Eatherton (Jr., White Bear Lake, Minn.) and Nora McGraw (Jr., Hutchinson, Minn.) lost at first singles, 4-8.

Eatherton went on to win at first singles, 6-4, 6-1. The final three matches on the court - Kiemele at third singles, Workcuff at fifth, and Yarbrough at sixth singles - were all extended to a third set super-breaker.

Yarbrough trailed by a set and 5-6 in the second to come back, force the extra frame, and win her match, 2-6, 7-6 (7-6), 10-8.

Kiemele and Workcuff were both bested in the super-breaker. Kiemele lost 7-6 (9-7), 2-6, 3-10, while Workcuff lost 6-3, 5-7, 6-10.

The Pipers are now 3-6, 0-5 MIAC. They will next play in Orlando, Florida against UW-Eau Claire on Monday, March 29.
