Late goal downs Pipers

The Pipers controlled the opening six minutes of play, but the Falcons capitalized on their first scoring opportunity. Carlin Bunting (So, Cottage Grove, Minn.) scored her first of the season on an assist from Cassie Stang (So., Stillwater, Minn.) at 7:05.

The Pipers then tied the game at 18:22 as Natalie Cooper (So., Stillwater, Minn.) scored from inside the box. A corner kick 12 seconds earlier helped set up the score as Allyse Eide (Fy., North Pole, Alaska) ultimately earned the assist.

It was Cooper's sixth goal of the year and her third straight game with a tally.

The teams remained deadlocked at 1-1 until Bunting scored her second of the game at 87:56 for the win. Emily Stoks (Fy., Shakopee, Minn.) and Alyssa Manor (Fy., Stillwater, Minn.) earned the assists.

Hamline had nine corner kicks to the Falcons' two. Liz Stock (Jr., Savage, Minn.) had seven saves for the Pipers in net.

The Pipers are now 2-1-0 overall with the non-conference loss and the Falcons are now 2-1-0 overall. Hamline will next host Northland on Saturday, September 8, at 2:00 p.m.
