Late-game goals carry Royals over Pipers in MIAC play

Hamline took a 1-0 lead before the five-minute mark, scoring on a play off of a corner kick. Hannah Plagman (Fy., Cedar Rapids, Iowa) took the corner kick and lofted it into the box. Allyse Eide (Fy., North Pole, Alaska) jumped up to head the ball into the air for Natalie Cooper (So., Stillwater, Minn.), who finished off the scoring with a header of her own.

The goal was scored at 4:40 and was Cooper's eighth of the season.

The Piper lead was protected over the next 70+ minutes as Liz Stock (Jr., Savage, Minn.) made 11 saves in goal. However, an unassisted goal by Sophie Christiansen (Jr., Portland, Ore.) off the bench at 75:11 tied the game.

The Royals then had their game-winner at 84:07 as Carrie Kishaba (Jr., Eau Claire, Wis.) bounced the ball in off of the crossbar for another unassisted goal.

Bethel's Alyssa Riggs (Sr., Columbia Heights, Minn.) had two saves in goal to earn the win.

The Pipers are now 3-3-0, 0-2-0 MIAC with the conference loss while the Royals improve to 4-2-1, 1-1-0 MIAC. Hamline hits the road for a string of games, starting with a 7:00 p.m. non-conference contest at UW-Stout on Tuesday, September 21.
