Pipers leave Fond du Lac with tie

Johnson provided the assist on the first Piper goal of the afternoon, scored by Billye Nelson (Jr., Warroad, Minn.) at 9:37 in the first period.

Johnson then gave Hamline a 2-0 lead with a tally at 6:19 in the second period. Alli Miller (Sr., Faribault, Minn.) had the assist.

With four seconds remaining in the second period, the Sabres made it a one-goal game. They then tied the game at 15:56 in the third.

Neither team could score in the extra frame, as Marian out-shot the Pipers 5-0 in overtime.

Amelea Gray (So., Bozeman, Mont.) had 32 saves in net for the Pipers.

Hamline opens the season at 1-0-1 overall with the non-conference tie. Marian is now 0-2-1. The Pipers begin MIAC play on Friday, November 12, when they will play at St. Catherine at Ridder Arena on the campus of the University of Minnesota. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
