In the opening period, the Falcons struck first just before the
13-minute mark. Marie Melson (Jr., Prior Lake, Minn.) set up in the slot
and put a pass from Hilary Christiansen (Jr., Eagan, Minn.) into the
net at 12:59. April Forar (Sr., Shakopee, Minn.) had the second assist
on the goal.
The Falcons added a pair of goals in the second period, including one six seconds before the intermission.
At 9:31, Alisha Java (Sr., Hudson, Wis.) scored on an assist from
Amber Cmejla (Sr., Fond du Lac, Wis.). Then at 19:42, the Pipers drew a
penalty which led to a Concordia power play goal at 19:54 by Sarah
Luberda (Sr., De Pere, Wis.). Samantha Meuwissen (So., Chanhassen,
Minn.) was credited with the assist.
The two teams went on to play a scoreless third period.
The Falcons out-shot the Pipers 42-18 in the game as Amelea Gray
(So., Bozeman, Mont.) made 39 saves in taking the loss in net for
Hamline. Lea Jondal (Jr., Somerset, Wis.) made 18 to get the win for the
Falcons.
With the non-conference loss, the Pipers are now 2-5-3 overall and
the Falcons are 6-7-1 overall. The Pipers will play their third
non-conference game in three days tomorrow, Sunday, January 2. They hit
the road to take on UW-Eau Claire at 2:00 p.m.
