Miller's special teams play leads Pipers over Auggies

Hamline also added a pair of even-strength goals to the two goals from special teams play. The Pipers also took advantage of rebounds, scoring three of their goals by picking up loose pucks in front of the net after a shot.

Jessica Kraus (Jr., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) scored the Pipers' opening goal at 5:24 on a power play. Miller and Megan Olson (Sr., Coon Rapids, Minn.) had the assists.

Miller then scored a short-handed goal as an aggressive Piper penalty kill unit attacked the net. Jestina Koenigsmark (Jr., Oakdale, Minn.) took a shot from the point and Miller, set up just outside the crease, picked up the rebound and flicked it in for the goal at 19:11. Haley Johnson (So., Bemidji, Minn.) had the second assist.

The Pipers once again used a rebound off of a shot to score a goal as the lone score in the second period came with seven seconds to play. Brianna Sigg (Jr., Coon Rapids, Minn.) took a shot and Laura Randall (So., Fridley, Minn.) was there to collect, and shoot, the loose puck for a goal at 19:53. Kaitlin Denton (Jr., Tracy, Calif.) had the second assist on that tally.

Less than a minute into the final period of regulation, Augsburg's Sandra Hinz (So., Stockholm, Sweden) scored at 48 seconds. Erin Leyden (Sr., Glen Ellyn, Ill.) had the assist.

The Pipers went ahead by three once again at 7:35 as Billye Nelson (Jr., Warroad, Minn.) took a shot and Johnson used the rebound to score the goal.

Augsburg's second goal came at 15:54 as Kressi Lehn (Sr., Rogers, Minn.) tipped in a shot taken by Allix Bell (So., Andover, Minn.). Jessica Larkin (So., Lakeville, Minn.) had the second assist.

The Pipers out-shot the Auggies 37-13 in the game.

The Pipers are now 3-10-3, 2-6-2 MIAC while the Auggies are 3-11-1, 1-8-1 MIAC. Hamline will next play on Friday, February 4, at Saint Benedict at 7:30 p.m.
