Kara Poirier (So., Eau Claire, Wis.) and Mary Wilkowski (Sr., Savannah, Ga.) put the Pipers up 4-0 at the start of the game.
The Blazers didn't let the lead last for long, and over the next ten minutes the score was tied up four times as the teams battled back and forth.
The hosts built up a six-point lead with 2:20 to play in the half. However, Hamline's Brianna Blackhawk (Fy., Minneapolis, Minn.) drained a shot from outside the arc and then a layup to put the Pipers within one, 33-32, a minute later.
A pair of free throws before the break gave Saint Benedict a three-point, 35-32, lead at halftime.
In the second half, the two teams split time in holding a lead, starting with the Pipers taking control, 42-41, at 14:44 on a Je'Naya Brown (Fy., Lewisville, Texas) layup.
Hamline would go on to hold the lead for the next 10 minutes, including thrice going up by six, the third time at 5:33, 61-55.
The Blazers then tallied 11 unanswered points, going up by four, 65-61, at 3:26. They would lead until the Pipers tied the game with 19 seconds remaining on the clock as Nikki Klinck (Sr., Hibbing, Minn.) hit a layup to tied it 71-71.
However, with nine seconds to play, the Blazers were sent to the free throw line and made both shots for the ultimate win.
Wilkowski had 23 points and was a rebound shy of a double-double, leading the Pipers. Klinck added 12 points.
Saint Benedict was led by 17 points from Heather Gillund and 12 from Amy Stifter.
The Pipers are now 1-4, 0-3 MIAC while the Blazers are 5-1, 1-1 MIAC. Hamline will remain on the road to take on Augsburg on Wednesday, December 8, at 7:30 p.m.
