The two teams played scoreless ball through the opening two inning,
but after that the Pipers scored in each inning to beat the Knights,
7-0.
Kelsey Tacheny (Jr., Saint Paul, Minn.) hit a lead-off home run in
the third inning for the lone Piper run of the frame. She then hit a
three-run homer in the fourth inning to put Hamline up 4-0. Both balls
sailed over the center field fence.
In the fifth, Kristi Gravem (So., Maplewood, Minn.) hit a lead-off
double and scored on an RBI-single from Bethany Hine (Fy., Carver,
Minn.) to center field.
Ashley Anderberg (Sr., Circle Pines, Minn.) then drove in a pair of
runs with a solo homer in the sixth and an RBI single in the seventh for
the 7-0 win.
Jessalyn Weaver (Sr., Eagan, Minn.) threw a complete game to get the shutout, striking out three batters along the way.
Tacheny hit 2-for-2 with four RBI, Hine went 3-for-4 at the plate
with an RBI in the opener, and Anderberg was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a
run scored.

Brenna Healy (Sr., Mounds View, Minn.) hit a solo home run in the second inning of game two, starting the Piper scoring.
That would be the lone run scored in the opening five innings, until
the Pipers added another run in the sixth with a lead-off solo home run
over the left field fence by Heidi Larsen (Jr., Andover, Minn.).
In the seventh, Gravem earned an RBI on a fielder's choice before
Larsen hit a two-run homer that ultimately resulted in the 5-0 win.
Tacheny started on the rubber for the Pipers, throwing four and
two-thirds innings for the win. Weaver completed the game, earning the
save.
Larsen was 2-for-3 in the second game with three RBI and two home runs.
Hamline is now 17-17, 11-9 MIAC. The Pipers close out their MIAC
schedule with a double-header at St. Catherine on Saturday, May 1, at
1:00 p.m.
