The Pipers put a run on the board in each of the first two innings before breaking open for six runs on six hits and two Buena Vista errors in the fourth.

Heidi Larsen (Jr., Andover, Minn.) led off the inning with a double down the left field line before Kara Poirier (Fy., Eau Claire, Minn.) safely bunted to put runners on the corners.

Bethany Hine (Fy., Carver, Minn.) then hit the second bunt of the inning to load the bases to allow Kelsey Tacheny (Jr., Saint Paul, Minn.) to hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Larsen.

An error on a fielder's choice allowed Kristi Gravem (So., Maplewood, Minn.) to load the bases once again, allowing Erin Farley (Jr., Saint Paul, Minn.) to get an RBI on a single to left field as Poirier scored. Hine also crossed the plate on the play as Buena Vista committed a throwing error.

Ashley Anderberg (Sr., Circle Pines, Minn.) then cleared the bases with a three-run homerun for the 8-0 lead.

Buena Vista scored one run on a hit in the bottom of the frame, but the Pipers scored one more run in the top of the fifth allowing the game to be shortened by the eight-run rule.

Jessalyn Weaver (Sr., Eagan, Minn.) threw a complete game for the win, giving up three hits and striking out four batters.

Farley and Anderberg each went 2-for-4 at the plate, with Farley tallying two RBI while Anderberg had three on the homerun. Tacheny was 1-for-2 at the plate with two RBI.

Chapman took the early lead in Hamline's second game of the day, scoring a run in the bottom of the second. The two teams alternated three-run turns at the plate in the fourth, leaving Chapman with a 4-3 lead as they began the fifth inning.

In the top of the fifth, Tacheny hit a single and then Gravem reached on a fielder's choice, setting up Hamline's second three-run homerun of the day.

This time is was Farley who lifted the ball over the left field fence, giving the Pipers a 6-4 lead.

Chapman scored a run, and loaded the based with one out in the sixth, to try to take the lead. But Weaver, who came in to pitch in the fifth after Tacheny started the game, tossed a strikeout and forced a pop-out to end the inning.

Tacheny earned the win for the Pipers while Weaver recorded the save.

Farley was 2-for-4 at the plate in the second game with the three RBI as she plated five runners on the day.  Brenna Healy (Sr., Mounds View, Minn.) was 1-for-3 at the plate with two RBI.
