Hamline took the spot of the visitors in the game against Tufts, and
scored in their first turn at the plate. Kristi Gravem (So., Maplewood,
Minn.) hit a one-out double and then scored on an RBI single from Erin
Farley (Jr., Saint Paul, Minn.).
The Jumbos then used four hits to score a trio of runs in the bottom
of the first inning, taking a lead that the Pipers ultimately couldn't
overcome.
The Pipers' second run came in the top of the second, as Laura
Randall (Fy., Fridley, Minn.) hit a one-out single and scored on an RBI
sacrifice bunt by Heidi Larsen (Jr., Andover, Minn.).
Jessalyn Weaver (Sr., Eagan, Minn.) took the loss on the rubber for
the Pipers while Randall was 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Hamline.

Once again filling the role of the visitors, the Pipers put their
first run on the board in their first at-bat in the second game. Larsen
hit a lead-off single to center field and advanced to second on a
ground-out before moving to third on the throw. She then scored on an
RBI sacrifice fly by Farley.
Hamline held the 1-0 lead until the bottom of the third, when Williams scored four runs on three hits and a Piper error.
The Pipers put a run on the board in each of the fourth and fifth
innings. Farley scored in the fourth after hitting a lead-off single to
left field and advancing to third after a walk and another single. She
scored on an RBI by Alleah Pac (Fy., Federal Way, Wash.) as she reached
on a fielder's choice.
The run in the fifth inning came as Jessica Churchill (So., Duluth,
Minn.) led off the inning with a single and then stole second. She
advanced to third on a single by Louisa Lueck (So., Ripon, Wis.) before
scoring as Gravem reached on a fielder's choice.
The Ephs then added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth for the final 6-3 score.
Laura Dombrovski (Fy., Maple Lake, Minn.) started and three three innings in taking the loss for the Pipers.
Churchill went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Pipers.
Hamline is now 1-3 overall and will take on Buena Vista and Chapman on Monday, March 29, in California.
