The first Piper NCAA provisional mark of the year came in the shot
put as Brennan McKeag (Jr., Lakeville, Minn.) won with a put of 51-1
(15.57 meters).
Hamline's second NCAA provo mark also came from McKeag as he won the weight throw with a toss of 57-0 3/4 (17.39 meters).
Hamline then completed a sweep of the top three positions in the shot
put as Derall King (Sr., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) was second in 49-3
3/4 (15.03 meters) and Blake Springman (Sr., Adrian, Minn.) was third
with a throw of 46-5 1/4 (14.15 meters).
The Pipers also put together a sweep in the weight throw, winning the
top four spots. After McKeag's win, Andrew Schlichting (Jr., North
Oaks, Minn.) was second with a throw of 55-2 (16.81 meters). In third
was Dan Anderson (Jr., Shoreview, Minn.) at 45-4 1/2 (13.83 meters) and
in fourth was Springman at a distance of 45-1 (13.74 meters).
DJ Weil (So., Chaska, Minn.) recorded the first event win for the
Pipers on the track as he ran to the line in 36.09 in the 300-meter
dash.
Tyson Molitor (Sr., Belgrade, Minn.) won the 600-yard dash in
1:16.37 while Dan Holmgren (Sr., Andover, Minn.) was second in 1:17.20.
Brendan Ruter (So., New London, Minn.) won at the 800-meter distance in 2:00.16.
The Pipers then swept the top five spots in the 3000-meter run. Jack
Diechert (Jr., Golden Valley, Minn.) led the pack, winning in 8:45.16.
He was trailed by Ian Campbell (Jr., Blooming Prairie, Minn.) in 8:51.13
and Devin Monson (Jr., Thompson, N.D.) in third with a finish of
8:59.88. Andrew Johnson (Sr., Andover, Minn.) was fourth in 9:00.02 and
Ellis Richardson (Jr., Roseville, Minn.) rounded out the top five in
9:00.58.
Hamline also put together a sweep of top spots in the triple jump,
taking the top four positions. Ben Johnson (Jr., Roseville, Minn.) won
the event with a leap of 42-0 (12.80 meters) and Dan Johnson (Granite
Falls, Minn.) was second at 41-10 3/4 (12.77 meters). In third was
Christian Kibler (So., Burnsville, Minn.) at 41-7 3/4 (12.69 meters) and
in fourth was Jon Danyo (Sr., Highlands Ranch, Colo.) with a jump of
38-0 1/4 (11.59 meters).
Javan Copley (Jr., Shoreview, Minn.) finished second in the 55-meter dash in 6.78 and in the 300-meter dash in 37.40.
In the 400-meter dash, Andrew Thomas (Fy., Farmington, Minn.) was second in 53.72.
Hamline took the second through fourth place spots in the 55-meter
hurdles, led by Zach Hansen's (So., Coon Rapids, Minn.) 8.56. Andrew
Ferguson (Fy., Saint Clair, Minn.) was third in 8.70 and Amani Lee (Fy.,
Minneapolis, Minn.) was fourth in 8.81.
Shaise Schuette (So., Anoka, Minn.) finished off the meet as the lone
competitor to clear a height in the pole vault at 14-5 1/4 (4.40
meters).
