Pipers split pair of 9-0 matches at Gustavus triangular

In the opening match against Gustavus, the MIAC opener for both teams, David Croonquist (So., North Oaks, Minn.) played the closest match of the day. He dropped his match at first singles in a third set super-breaker, 2-6, 7-6 (7-5), 7-10.

In the sweep of Mankato, Robert Becker (Jr., Minnetonka, Minn.) and Bernard Mitambo (Jr., Minneapolis, Minn.) posted an 8-4 win at first doubles. The wins at second and third doubles both came by scores of 8-3. Croonquist and Connor Hart (So., Dellwood, Minn.) paired up at second while Sam Teitelbaum (Jr., Afton, Minn.) and Andrew Lutz (Jr., Pine City, Minn.) won at third doubles.

In singles, Croonquist posted a 6-1, 6-4 victory at first singles and Becker won at second singles, 6-2, 6-2.

Mitambo faced the biggest challenge, bouncing back from losing the first set to win 4-6, 6-3, 10-5.

Hart won at fourth singles, 6-0, 6-4, and Teitelbaum won at fifth singles, 6-2, 6-0. The final win came from Lutz at sixth singles, 6-2, 6-0.

The Pipers are now 1-2, 0-1 MIAC.
