Hoveland wins diving event as Pipers open 2011 at Gustavus

The Piper 200-yard medley relay team opened the meet by swimming to eighth place in 2:00.85. The team consisted of Robert Hoveland (Fy., Saint Paul, Minn.), Zachary Lameyer (Fy., North St. Paul, Minn.), Corbin Conliffe (Fy., Robbinsdale, Minn.) and Tyler Anderson (Sr., North Mankato, Minn.).

Hoveland won the title off of the one-meter board, scoring 214.75 points. Later in the meet he placed fourth off of the three-meter board with 188.65 points. He also finished 18th in the 50-freestyle in 27.11.

Lamayer went on to place eighth in the 1000-yard freestyle in 12:18.87 and 10th in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:50.26.

Anderson was 11th in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:18.17 and was 15th in the 50-freestyle in 25:41.

In the 100-yard backstroke, Conliffe was 11th in 1:06.68 and he placed 12th in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:03.68.

The Pipers next swim on Saturday, January 15, at Saint Mary's. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
