Pipers drop one-goal game to Knights

In a blustery game, with the wind behind the Knights in the first half, the opening 45 minutes of play produced just four total shots on goal. Wartburg put three shots on net while Hamline had one in the first half.

In the second half the Knights shot into the wind, and managed just two more shots, but the one that counted came at 76:41. Nate Gottsacker (Jr., Bloomington, Ill.) centered the ball to Luke Prater (Sr., Springfield, Mo.) who scored the eventual game-winner from the top of the box.

Zach Nelson (Jr., Eagan, Minn.) had five saves in goal for the Pipers while Brandon Busbee (Sr., Hiawatha, Iowa) made two.

The Pipers are now 1-1 overall with the non-conference loss while the Knights open their season at 1-0. Hamline next hosts the University of Minnesota-Morris on Saturday, September 4, at 4:00 p.m.
