After a scoreless first half, the Yellowjackets struck first, scoring
at 52:38 as Eric Nilsen scored on a pass from Thomas Shuldheisz in
front of net. They then added a second goal at 73:54 from Nate Engel.
His tally was unassisted.
The Pipers went on the attack late in the game, and at 82:45,
Johnson scored on a header. Sam Slagle (So., Appleton, Wis.) bounced the
ball up to Johnson for the assist.
The Yellowjackets out-shot the Pipers, 13-7, and had four corner
kicks to the Pipers' one. All of UW-Superior's corner kicks came in the
second half.
Hamline is now 5-6-0, 1-3-0 MIAC with the non-conference
loss. Superior is 7-9-0, 1-0-0 WIAC. The Pipers hit the road this
weekend to play at Saint John's on Saturday, October 9, at 1:00 p.m.
