Piper trio combines to score pair of goals over Cougars

Hamline's first goal of the game came at 21:04 when Tegeldin centered the ball for Rios at the top of the box. The goal was Rios' first of the season.

Rios and Wone then combined to get the assists on a Tageldin goal at 47:58. Tageldin's third goal of the year was on a long, hard shot from the center of the offensive zone as he put the ball in the upper right corner of the goal.

Zach Nelson (Jr., Eagan, Minn.) had three saves as he recorded his second shutout of the season in as many wins.

Hamline out-shot the Cougars by one, 11-10, and both teams had three shots on goal.

The Pipers are now 2-1-0 overall with the non-conference win and the Cougars are 0-1-1 to start the season.

Hamline has the week off from competition and will next host Clarke on Saturday, September 11, at 11:00 a.m.
