Wone, Tageldin tally two apiece to carry Pipers over Storm

The season's scoring opened in unusual fashion as Wone's first goal as a Piper came on a penalty kick. The kick was awarded after Tageldin was fouled in the box by the Crown keeper.

Wone scored the goal at 11:11 and then put in a rebound off of a Javier Rios (Sr., Chihuahua, Mexico) shot at 16:45 to put Hamline up 2-0.

Sam Studer then scored on a breakaway at 36:45 to give Hamline a 3-0 lead heading into halftime.

Tageldin scored both of Hamline's second-half goals from the center of the box, the first at 60:23 as Greg Northrop (Fy., Arden Hills, Minn.) bounced the ball up to him.

His second goal came on a pass from Brian Stout (Fy., Lake Villa, Ill.) at 72:45.

Zach Nelson (Jr., Eagan, Minn.) was well protected in net, forced to make just two saves to earn the shutout.

Hamline opens the season at 1-0 overall with the non-conference win while Crown is 0-1. The Pipers will host Wartburg on Friday, September 3, at 4:00 p.m. in a non-conference contest.
