Pipers score on Augsburg own-goal but fall in MIAC play

Benjamin Wexler (Sr.,  Minnetonka,Minn.) scored first for the Auggies as David Scheller (Jr., Maple Grove, Minn.) crossed the ball from the left. The goal came at 11:13.

Hamline then scored at 17:26 to even the match as Ibou Wone (Jr., Dakar, Senegal) took a shot from just in front of the net. Augsburg keeper Clayton Lynch (Fy., Cedar Rapids, Iowa) played the ball and bobbled it, knocking it into his own goal.

Augsburg scored again ten minutes before halftime as Tyler Heaps (So., Saint Paul, Minn.) served up the ball from the right and Gottlieb Uahengo (So., Windhoek, Namibia) headed it in.

The Auggies’ final goal came at 56:36 from Josh Sweeney (So., Bloomington, Minn.), who knocked it in from Ahmed Gobana (Jr., Burnsville, Minn.) off of a free kick.

Hamline falls to 6-10-1, 2-6-0 MIAC while Augsburg is now 11-4-1, 5-2-1 MIAC. The Pipers will play their final home game of the year on Tuesday, October 26, when they host Gustavus at 3:30 p.m.
