Kurr (Sr., Elk River, Minn.) had a six-point weekend with three goals
and three assists as the #10-ranked Hamline University men’s hockey
team swept Saint John’s.
Kurr was named co-men's hockey athlete of the week alongside Gustavus
Adolphus goalie Josh Swartout. This weekend's series between the Pipers
and Gusties will mark the second straight week that reigning MIAC
co-hockey players of the week (a forward and a goalie) have faced off on

Kurr is the fourth different Piper men's hockey player to earn this honor in 2009-10.
In Thursday night’s 5-4 come-from-behind road win, Kurr had an assist
on the second Piper goal and scored the game-tying goal at 10:43 in the
third. He then passed the puck to Brian Arrigoni for the game-winner
with just over a minute remaining in the game, tallying his second
assist of the night.
On Saturday’s 5-2 win in Saint Paul, Kurr scored the second Piper
goal to break a 1-1 tie on a power play late in the first period. He
then scored the fourth Piper goal to put Hamline up by a pair of scores
and had an assist on the final Hamline score.
The sweep allowed the Pipers to clinch their third straight MIAC
playoff berth. The four points in the standings put them just one point
behind first-place #7-ranked Gustavus as the two teams prepare to face
off this weekend.
Hamline will travel to St. Peter for a 7:00 p.m. game on Friday,
February 12, before hosting the Gusties on Saturday, February 13, at
7:15 p.m. The Pipers' record is now 14-4-3, 9-2-1 MIAC.
