Gustavus scored first on their home ice, as Patrick Dynan took the
rebound off of a Ross Ring-Jarvi shot and put it in the net at 13:30 in
the first period.
The score remained 1-0 in favor of the hosts until 6:10 in the third
when Spencer Anderson (Jr., Chicago, Ill. ) knotted the score at 1-1.
Brian Arrigoni (So., Saint Paul, Minn. ) and Kyle Kurr (Sr., Elk River,
Minn.) were credited with the assists.
As Arrigoni came out of the penalty box at the 10-minute mark of the
half, the Pipers entered the Gustavus zone. He and Jared Hummel (Jr.,
Eagan, Minn.) combined for the assists on a Brett Burgau (Jr., New Ulm,
Minn.) goal that put the Pipers up 2-1 at 10:31 in the third.
The Gusties pulled their goalie with 50 seconds remaining in the
game, and called a timeout with 35 seconds remaining in the game, but it
was to no avail. Kelly Plude (Jr., Elk River, Minn.) scored the
empty-netter at 19:34, assisted by Chris Berenguer (Jr., Eden Prairie,
Minn.) and Kurr.
