Taylor Vichorek (Fy., Moose Lake, Minn.) broke the 0-0 deadlock as he
dove to the ice in the slot and flicked the puck into the net. The
unassisted goal came at 4:13 in the second period.
Concordia’s Michael Weiss (Jr., Moorhead, Minn.) then tied the game
at 16:40. Bronson Shepherd (So., Brainerd, Minn.) and Erick Galt (So.,
Fargo, N.D.) were credited with the assists.
Kelly Plude (Jr., Elk River, Minn.) gave the Pipers the 2-1 lead
heading into the second intermission, scoring with 67 seconds remaining
in the period. Spencer Anderson (Jr., Chicago, Ill.) and Jared Hummel
(Jr., Eagan, Minn.) had the assists.
The Cobbers tied it up at 11:07 in the third when Mark Harrie (So., Fargo, N.D.) scored an unassisted short-handed goal.
The Pipers fought off a flurry of Concordia activity in the Hamline
zone in the final minute, keeping the score knotted at 2-2 and sending
the game into overtime. Concordia out-shot the Pipers, 2-1, in overtime,
but neither team scored, ending with a split in the MIAC points.
Hamline
is now 15-5-4, 10-3-2 MIAC with the conference tie while the Cobbers
move to 5-14-5, 4-6-5 MIAC. The same two teams will meet again tomorrow,
Saturday, February 20, at 5:00 p.m.
