Danny Vranek (Jr., New Port Richey, Fla.) won the opening face-off of
the return to conference play and dumped the puck back his defense.
Kelly Plude (Jr., Elk River, Minn.) ultimately wound up with the puck
and sent it up to Chris Berenguer (Jr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) on the blue
line, who, in turn, pushed it to Spencer Anderson (Jr., Chicago, Ill.)
waiting in the slot.
Just 11 seconds after the initial puck drop, Anderson put the puck in the net for the 1-0 Hamline lead.
The Pipers scored again less than three minutes later. Kyle Mattson
(Jr., Maple Grove, Minn.) picked up the puck in the corner and skated it
around to the front on the net for the shot and the goal at 3:10.
Austun Tavis (Jr., Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Berenguer earned the assists
on the score.
Hamline built a 3-0 lead in the second period as Kyle Kurr (Sr., Elk
River, Minn.) won a face-off and Brian Arrigoni (So., Saint Paul, Minn.)
deflected the puck to Ryan Kupperman (Jr., Canterbury, N.H.). Kupperman
scored at 6:50 for the win.
Berenguer scored his third point of the game in the third period on a
goal at 10:40. Kurr and Kupperman each recorded their second points of
the night with the assists.
Christian was stellar in goal, recording 16 saves for the shutout.
The Pipers moved to 9-2-3, 4-0-1 MIAC with the conference win, and
