Arrigoni tallies two to lead Pipers over Auggies

Hamline scored first as Kelly Plude (Jr., Elk River, Minn.) put the puck in the net at 5:55. Spencer Anderson (Jr., Chicago, Ill.) and Alex Lundbohm (Jr., Roseau, Minn.) were credited with the assists.

They doubled their lead to 2-0 at 10:55 on a goal from Brian Arrigoni (So., Saint Paul, Minn.). Kyle Kurr (Sr., Elk River, Minn.) and Jay Fifield (Jr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) tallied the assists.

The Auggies tied the game with a two-goal second period from Joel Sauer (Jr., Madison, Wis.). He put the puck in the net at 1:55 and then again at 17:13.

Arrigoni’s second goal of the game ended the deadlock at 6:44 in the third. Ryan Kupperman (Jr., Canterbury, N.H.) and Tim Olson (So., Apple Valley, Minn.) recorded the assists.

With 1:35 remaining in the game, Augsburg pulled their goalie and put the extra skater on the ice to try to send the game to overtime, but couldn't put the puck in the net to earn an extra five minutes of playing time.

The Pipers move to 12-4-3, 7-2-1 MIAC with the conference win and Augsburg is now 11-7-1, 4-5-1 MIAC. The Pipers will next play at Saint John’s on Thursday, February 4, at 7:00 p.m.
