Hamline scored first as Kelly Plude (Jr., Elk River, Minn.) put the
puck in the net at 5:55. Spencer Anderson (Jr., Chicago, Ill.) and Alex
Lundbohm (Jr., Roseau, Minn.) were credited with the assists.
They doubled their lead to 2-0 at 10:55 on a goal from Brian Arrigoni
(So., Saint Paul, Minn.). Kyle Kurr (Sr., Elk River, Minn.) and Jay
Fifield (Jr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) tallied the assists.
The Auggies tied the game with a two-goal second period from Joel
Sauer (Jr., Madison, Wis.). He put the puck in the net at 1:55 and then
again at 17:13.
Arrigoni’s second goal of the game ended the deadlock at 6:44 in the
third. Ryan Kupperman (Jr., Canterbury, N.H.) and Tim Olson (So., Apple
Valley, Minn.) recorded the assists.
With 1:35 remaining in the game, Augsburg pulled their goalie and put
the extra skater on the ice to try to send the game to overtime, but
couldn't put the puck in the net to earn an extra five minutes of
playing time.
The Pipers move to 12-4-3, 7-2-1 MIAC with the conference win and
Augsburg is now 11-7-1, 4-5-1 MIAC. The Pipers will next play at Saint
John’s on Thursday, February 4, at 7:00 p.m.
