Anderson earns MIAC honor in debut weekend as Piper

The Pipers and Bulldogs played for the first time in the history of the two programs. Adrian entered the series on a 37-game, 14-month win streak.

At the time of the game, Hamline was ranked #10 in the USCHO.com poll while the Bulldogs held the #4 ranking. In the latest national poll, released this afternoon, Hamline moved up to the #7 spot in the national rankings while Adrian dropped to #9.

Anderson tallied seven points in the series, starting with a goal and two assists in Friday's 6-5 victory that ended the Bulldogs' win streak. His second assist was on the game-winning goal.

On Saturday, he recorded the first Piper hat trick of the season as he lit the lamp three times and added an assist in Hamline's 7-3 win for the sweep.

The 8-1-2, 3-0-1 Pipers host two more teams at Drake Arena this weekend that have held national rankings in 2009-10. They will start with #5-ranked St. Scholastica on Friday, January 8, at 7:15 p.m.

UW-Superior was ranked #15 in the December 14 poll but was just three ranking points shy of remaining in the USCHO.com Top 15 this week. The Yellowjackets will face the Pipers on Saturday, January 9, at 7:15 p.m.
