Hamline tallied two goals in the opening and closing periods while the Yellowjackets scored in the second period.
Berenguer (Sr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) scored a pair of even-strength
goals in the first period at 1:15 and 6:03. Arrigoni (Jr., Saint Paul,
Minn.) and Kupperman (Sr., Canterbury, N.H.) earned the assists on the
first goal. Ryan McElhone (Fy., Zimmerman, Minn.) and Kyle Mattson (Sr.,
Maple Grove, Minn.) were credited with the assists on the second goal.
The hosts' lone goal came at 10:15 in the second.
In the third period, the Pipers scored a pair of power play goals.
Kupperman scored at 2:21 from Arrigoni and Berenguer. Arrigoni then
added a goal at 17:19 from Kupperman and Cory Belisle (Fy., Andover,
Minn.).
Hamline out-shot the Yellowjackets 28-25 in the game. Beau Christian (Jr., Moorhead, Minn.) made 24 saves for the Pipers.
The Pipers are now 8-3-1 overall with the non-conference win.
Superior is 8-5-1. Hamline remains in Duluth to take on St. Scholastica
tomorrow, Saturday, January 8, at 7:00 p.m.
